With Dynamiq’s Support, A School Goes From Concern To Case Study

Dynamiq has now been asked to participate in regular meetings supporting the Police School Safety programme in Victoria. 

Leading to the engagement

In early 2019, an incident occurred at a school in regional Victoria that warranted the evacuation of the campus. The incident was serious enough that the Victorian Police were required to attend – and they had serious concerns about the way the evacuation was conducted.  They subsequently requested to attend the school at a later date to participate in an evacuation exercise, where they intended to review the school’s evacuation process, specific incident related documentation utilised by the school and to provide feedback during the exercise debrief. 

The school contacted Dynamiq for support to conduct the exercise, as the process and documentation being utilised by the school had previously been provided by Dynamiq. 

Dynamiq’s expertise and tools

Dynamiq provided two senior staff to facilitate the exercise, which required a full evacuation of the school. The exercise was reviewed by the Victorian Police representatives in attendance, who commented that the exercise was well run, and that the evacuation was completed effectively and efficiently by the school wardens. The Police representatives also reviewed all of the critical incident documentation being utilised by the school, and commented specifically on the quality of Dynamiq’s documentation and how the post-exercise debrief process was run – especially how areas requiring attention were highlighted and solutions for solving these issues were presented.

The outcomes

Following this review and localised criminal activity within the Western Metropolitan school zones, Dynamiq has now been asked to participate in regular meetings supporting the Police School Safety programme, which has been created to educate school Principals on risk factors and preparedness on what action to take in the event of potential incidents.
